Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, L. Ac., M. S., M. M., a licensed acupuncturist, and a professional classical musician, an expert in the field of
facial acupuncture and Chinese medicine, will teach you useful exercises and self-treatments for toning sagging, droopy muscles, and
for lessening lines and wrinkles.
Since the face is the most emotive part of the body, it acts as a mirror of its condition, reflecting its overall health and well-being. Any
lines, wrinkles, and repetitive facial expressions reveal imbalances in the emotions, organs, and the meridians.
Ms. Wakefield will discuss the important principle of Chinese medicine which states that "The Shen (emotions/spirit) leads the Qi (the
energy and movement of the facial muscles)".
Mary Elizabeth Wakefield has 30-plus years of clinical experience as a healing practitioner, and has personally trained close to 5,000 healthcare practitioners from 5 continents. She has contributed a column on facial acupuncture for 9 years to Acupuncture Today magazine, and her treatment protocols have been featured or highlighted in many prominent publications. She is the author of Constitutional Facial Acupuncture (Elsevier UK, 2014) and the co-author, with her partner, MichelAngelo, of the forthcoming book from Singing Dragon UK (Hachette), Vibrational Acupuncture: Integrating Tuning Forks with Needles (2019). Ms. Wakefield maintains a private practice on the Upper East side of Manhattan in New York City.
